Wavefront Lasik

Regarding LASIK surgery, is Custom Wavefront Lasik worth $800 more than Flying Spot Technology?

Drew M asked:

If someone could provide an educated opinion on the topic I’d appreciate it. My LASIK surgeon recommended either the Bausch & Lomb 217Z (flying spot) or the Bausch & Lomb Zyoptix (custom wavefront). When I search for articles on the web, all I get are articles promoting one or the other, but I cant find a comparison. It seems like the Zypotix comes higher recommended but is it worth an extra $800? Or is the improvement between custom wavefront over flying spot worth it?

Is wavefront laser eye surgery another way to charge more money or is it more effective than PRK AND LASIK?

I have booked my eye surgery and cant wait, I have opted for the wavefront LASIK procedure without intralase. Anyone else not had intralse? what are the pros + cons and do I NEED to have intralase? its just that I had a budget and intralase adds £600 to that budget which I will struggle to afford.

Have you had success with LASIK?

does high eye power means higher risk of the lasik surgery?

recently, I went to 2 lasik consultation. The first surgeon that I met said I am qualify for the surgery. But there is a 10% chance that I’ll need to do the surgery again if there’s anything goes wrong.

The second place that I went told me to come back in half year b/c they afraid my power is still not stable (I just turned 24). Also, the second consultant said in my case, I may be able to do the lasik once, because my cornea is not as thick.

As what I can recall, my pulpil size is around 6.5. My cornea is 5.5 - 5.7(guessing).

I was told that I can only do the traditional lasik instead of the wavefront lasik. Why can’t I do the wavefront? Thanks for your time!
so does it mean I’ll have greater risk of suffering side effects such as haloes and glare?

Hello I am 20 years old and had the Wavefront Custom Lasik on both of my eyes back in August and I currently am experiencing a few issues. One, my day vision is very good (alot better than before) so I’m happy with that. However, my night vision is horrible especially with glare from oncoming lights while driving (I literally feel it’s unsafe for me to drive at night) as I get blinded constantly and nearly drive off the road and unable to see obstructions. I tried to call my doctor but he says this is normal and should go away.. I’m doubtful. Also, I am noticing that my eyes are always red ish now where you can see all my veins, it wasn’t like that up until about a month ago. I try using more drops but this actually causes my eyes to turn more red. If I don’t use any drops my eye are red but its mostly that you can see the veins in my eyes, and that won’t seem to go away. Any suggestions? I’m worried. Thanks

Why the price of LASIK eye surgery defies upward trend of general health care?

Alex Smirnoff asked:

In early 1999, shortly after LASIK was first approved by the FDA, the average price for the procedure was about $2,100 per eye. By the end of 2005, it had fallen about 20% to $1,687. Innovators have also responded to the demand for the service by developing a newer and more precise LASIK technology called “wavefront-guided” LASIK. Naturally, they charge more for this better, more accurate technology, but not much more than the standard procedure originally cost.

Between 1999 and 2004, by contrast, overall annual health expenditures per person in the U.S. increased to nearly $6,300 from $4,400, and the increase is being felt acutely by employers and their workers.

Please help Barack Hussein Obama figure out the most important question about health care reform : how to keep the price down. Offer your theory.

I had Custom Wavefront Intralase Lasik on March 13th. Almost four weeks ago. I’m going to the doctor in two days but I was wondering…

If I relax my eyes things get out of focus. But then I become concious of it and I can actually see and feel my eyes refocus. Anyways, I don’t think I’m quite 20/20 yet. And I still have halos around lights at night.

Are my eyes going to be okay? Will the bad night vision clear up? Will I see 20/20? I know what a google search will say but I was wondering if there was anyone out there that had the procedure or knew someone of who had it.
:( I really really hope this works out. I tell my family and friends that everything’s okay but in reality, I’m still very worried.
Oh and my prescription BEFORE lasik was -6.00 and -6.75…..

Is lasik safe? Is it painful?

And what is the difference between wavefront and normal lasik? Is there a kind of lasik that doesn’t require the surgeon cutting the cornea?
